Where can I find the entrance to Oamaru Public Gardens?

Oamaru Public Gardens has two entrances, one on Chelmer Street and another on Severn Street.

Oamaru Public Gardens, which was first established in the late 1800s, is one the oldest in the whole of New Zealand! The gardens have received a well deserved 5 star ‘Garden of Significance’ rating and have had no trouble with captivating and charming its visitors over the past centuries! The garden can be described as an oasis that reflects the passions and dedications of the former owners, canopies of mature trees that create a plethora of peaceful spaces filled with beautiful plantings that are linked by idyllic pathways that navigate their way around the streams and ponds, providing the perfect places to relax!

Oamaru Public Gardens provides visitors with a wide variety of natural and sculpted features. Some of the most popular highlights in the gardens include The children’s playground, which has entertained thousands of families over the years; The Display House, which can be found in the centre of Oamaru Public Garden and is the home to a beautiful collection of exotic plant specimens; The Wonderland Garden, also found within Oamaru Public Gardens which is a mystical space equipped with an ornamental stream flowing past the elegant Swan Fountain and a bronze statue.
