In 1812 copper was discovered in Allihies and the mining enterprise started. Learn the many different extraordinary stories of the engineering and see the engine houses up close. You will be able to view the magnificent steam engine pumping out water and driving winding gears. Need a break then head to the Copper Café, you can sit in or outdoors and enjoy delicious seafood or just a coffee there is something for everyone!
