Are you looking for a more relaxed day out? Come along and check out Seaforde Gardens, situated in the historic Demesne of Seaforde in County Down! The perfect place in which to unwind for the day and hunt out your favourite tranquil spot!
Visitors of the Tropical Butterfly House are encouraged to wander around and enjoy a close-up experience with these colourful and exotic little creatures as they dart back and forth amongst the tropical plants searching for nectar! As visitors wander around the butterfly house or sit quietly in the corner, they may notice that some of the butterflies approach you to land on you! Maybe attracted by the colourful clothing or most likely, trying to suck up all of the salt that humans produce on their skin!
In one corner of the Butterfly House, visitors can observe the pupae hatch into stunning butterflies and learn about the cycle of these incredible little animals! From hatching from a tiny egg as a larva and then transforming into pupa to hatch again, but this time as a butterfly! Witness how each butterfly enjoys weeks or sometimes even months looking for a mate before finding a place to lay eggs and begin the cycle once more!
There are also a number of other animal species on display at the Tropical Butterfly House. Pass through to discover a world of other little creatures ranging from their friendly Python, glow-in-the-dark Scorpions, and Tropical Fish to talkative Parrots! And don’t forget about the small community of Terrapins, Tarantulas, Giant Hissing Cockroaches, Bugs, Stick Insects, and snakes!
