Who is up for a wild camping canoe expedition on the River Spey, the third largest and the fastest flowing river in Scotland? The five-day expedition is led by an experienced guide and is a great way to see some of Scotland’s best landscapes and nature. This expedition is suitable for confident swimmers who have some canoeing experience. Training is provided and you’ll learn everything from some basic paddling techniques to how to handle the rapids. If you have never been in a canoe – a 1 or 2-day canoe training course before your expedition can also be provided.
Why choose the River Spey for a canoe expedition?
The tour takes you past a number of landmarks including Ruthven Barracks, fabulous views of distant Ben Macdui, Granton on Spey, Aberlour, and a number of distilleries – for those who fancy a quick dram! Active Outdoor Pursuits was founded in 1999 by its owners Roy & Sophia Gibson, who share their passion for the area’s amazing landscape and nature. The cost is £595 per person, this includes canoes and camping equipment (nearly everything barring your own sleeping bag and waterproofs). Various dates throughout the summer are available – for a canoe trip on one of Scotland’s great rivers.
