Want to see some of Bristol’s best scenery? A masterpiece of design and engineering, the Clifton Suspension bridge will never fail to impress you. The bridge is set on the Avon Gorge cliffs 76 metres above the River Avon featuring breath-taking views of the city. It is even regarded as the most instagrammable place in Bristol so a visit to Bristol isn’t complete without a photo in front of the view!
The internationally recognised bridge was designed by the great Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel although he never lived to see his creation finish in 1864. It was originally designed for pedestrians and light horse-drawn traffic, now it carries over 4 million vehicles a year- a lot has changed! As well as to see the stunning scenery, the iconic bridge has a visitor centre where you can learn the all history of the bridge making it the perfect day activity for families!
