Duart Castle on the Isle of Mull

Do you love history? Or do you want to experience some of Scotland’s most beautiful castles, Duart Castle on the Isle Of Mull? This was an important site with regards to Scottish History, as it was the home of the famous Maclean Clan. This 800-year-old castle is located uniquely on the west coast of Scotland, guarding the cliffs and sea on the Isle of Mull. Interestingly, this is one of Scotland’s oldest surviving privately owned Castle.

Where can I find Duart Castle on the Isle of Mull?

If travelling from Glasgow, you can get the bus to Oban from Buchannan bus station, then catch the ferry Craignure Mull Ferry Terminal, the castle is located a short distance from here.

When visiting the castle, there is a multitude of interesting things to see. Just outside the Castle alone, including the famous Millenium wood and Duart Point. However, inside the castle, there is a magnificent amount of things to see, artefacts that will surprise even the most hardened of history buffs. These include the 13th-century keep and dungeons, The Rowan Tree and the perfectly preserved banqueting hall. The castle is open from the 1st of April to the 18th of October,  and tickets for adults start at £7.50 and £4 for children. So what are you waiting for?
