Eventually, the site ended up in the hands of Norman Lords, most of whom came over during the Norman Invasion of Ireland. It was passed around local Kings and Lords, until the 1300s, when it was acquired by the O’Moore’s. In the 1600s it had been taken over by the Earl of Thomond, before finally being destroyed during the Cromwellian Invasion.
