How long is the Tasman Great Taste Trail?

The trail is roughly between 38-175km long and takes anywhere from 1 to 4 days to complete.

Tasman’s Great Taste Trail is a combination of cycle paths weaving inland and along the coast, linking the townships of Nelson, Wakefield, Richmond, Motueka and Kaiteriteri! In total, the distance of the circuit is 174km, but can easily be tailored into day rides, which allow visitors plenty of time to enjoy the venue’s on the way!

The leg of the journey between Richmond and Mapua is a perfect day ride! Starting off by winding through the Waimea Inlet, and towards the pine forests and sandy beaches of Rabbit Island where you can hop on a ferry to Mapua for some beer, ice cream, fish and chips and more!

Another enjoyable day trip starts from Motueka, heading along pretty country lanes, past fruit stalls and through orchards, to the entrance of Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park. Averagely fit riders (including children) will enjoy the wide, smooth tracks leading over the hill to Kaiteriteri, one of Tasman Bay’s most stunning beaches.
