Where can I find the Vanished World Centre?

The Vanished World Centre can be found by following Kurow-Duntroon Road in Duntroon and turning off onto Middleton Street.

Any visitors that are looking to take part in the fossil history in Waitaki, are able to come and gain a greater knowledge and appreciation of the unique area by viewing the displays at the centre! Each of the specimens on display has been found within a 20km radius of Duntroon. The fossils range from specimens of whales, dolphins, and invertebrates, and allow visitors to reveal the details of marine ecosystems from 20 to 30 million years ago!

The Vanished World Centre also has its own fossil extraction room, in which children can have their first hands-on experience of fossils! There is also an additional room that houses a huge collection of minerals and rocks that have been found in the nearby area. The combination of these two rooms makes for an impressive educational resource for all to enjoy!

As well as the variety of displays, the centre also has a shop that sells a wide range of geological merchandise. The merchandise includes a great range of products for younger visitors and beginners, from model construction packs to junior digging kits, there is something fantastic to take home with you and remind you of your exciting visit to the centre!
