Why should I visit Pukeiti?

Pukeiti is the perfect place to come and lose yourself in the bright and exotic colours in the midst of the beautiful native rainforest!

Pukeiti gardens boast one of the world’s biggest and mixed collections of rhododendrons and other exotic plants! This creates an explosion of bright, vibrant colours among native rainforest and mountain streams, perfect for taking a relaxing stroll through!

For the little ones, there is a Treehouse Trail that is a free self-guided activity leading the children through the gardens using an activity satchel that can be picked up from the Rainforest Centre which can be found just outside the Rainforest Eatery any day of the week!

After finishing your day of exploring the gardens, why not pop into the Rainforest Centre! The Centre is located at the entrance of Pukeiti and features a multi-media interpretation area, function space and direct access to covered areas that house the largest public display of vireya rhododendrons in the world!
