This fantastic museum acts as a celebration of the Govan area of the city and its role in Glasgow’s world-famous Shipbuilding industry. The building where the museum is housed was once the home of Industry giants, The Fairfield Shipbuilding & Engineering Company LTD. Which helped revolutionise the industry in the 19th and 20th centuries.

How do I get to Fairfield Heritage from the City Centre?

The museum is located in the Govan area of the City, which is heavily serviced by Bus, Rail and Subway links. The nearest Subway station is Govan Subway Station.

The museum has regular events throughout the year, becoming an important centre for community activities and all sorts of events. The facility also provides tours, which are in-depth and go into great detail on the area, for two hours a week at peak times. Interestingly, Fairfield Heritage also has a “Family History” department. This is where volunteers help others research their family history and deal with many visitors from overseas.
