If you are looking for high rope challenges and a great venue head over to Go Ape at the Glentress Forest, outside Peebles and 24 miles from Edinburgh. Go Ape, with tree-to-tree crossings, bouncy nets and all-terrain Segways makes it a great place for a group get-together. They have treetop courses for climbers of all abilities and ages this is a great place for everyone from families to more experienced adventurers. One of the highlights is the 325-metres zip wire over the mountain bike trails and open water. You cross the valley at nearly 50 metres above the ground!

Where can I find a high rope challenge near Edinburgh?

Go Ape at Glentress Forest, near Peebles, offers some great challenges and a massive 325m zip wire.

The popular Glentress Forest offers some of the best Green, Blue, Red, and Black mountain bike trails in Scotland – over 50 miles of them! With a dramatic landscape and huge Douglas fir trees, it’s not surprising that Go Ape has set up here in this amazing adventure playground.

After burning off all those calories, we would really recommend a slice of banoffee pie at the nearby Glentress Peel Café.

  • Wear sensible clothes for adventure
  • The course takes 2-3 hours to complete
  • Cost £25 per person
  • Footwear must be sturdy and suitable for the outdoors. No sandals, slip off shoes, open toes or heels
  • Gloves are a good idea. Either bring a pair or you can buy them at the cabin on the day
  • Go Ape Glentress Forest operates as a cashless site, only card payments can be accepted
  • Bring or hire bikes and try one of the award-winning mountain bike trails
  • Head over to the Tweed Valley Wild Watch Centre
  • Treat yourself to some delicious refreshments in the Glentress Peel Café
