Go on a Fishing Tour of the River Holaa in Iceland

Are you a keen angler? Or do you simply want to give it a try? Well this is the perfect opportunity for you! Go Fishing offers you a privately guided fishing day tour from Reykjavik. Day tours are suitable for both the experienced anglers and beginners alike. Your professional guide and instructor will provide the knowledge and techniques to make a memorable fishing tour.

Do I need to bring my own equipment?

You certainly can if you’d like, but that’s all included in the price. In fact, included is your pick up/drop off, private guiding/instructions, fishing permit, fishing equipment (waders and rod), usage of flies & spinners and even light refreshments (light beverages & sandwiches)!

For fly fishers the Rver Holaa is ideally suited for upstream nymphing, dry fly fishing as well as for fishing with streamers. The river is fished entirely from the riverside or by wading. Most of the lies can be covered easily with single handed fly rods. Spin casting is also allowed. The Holaa has a quiet rural location and the lush vegetation along the riverside as well as the rich bird life is joy to watch. Iceland has some of the best brown trout and arctic char fishing to be found in the world. The fresh water fishing season in Iceland starts in April on several sea trout & brown trout rivers as well as a few lakes. The main brown trout & arctic char season starts in May and ends in mid-September. The Holaa river is beautifully surrounded and the arctic char and brown trout are of all sizes, with the most common size range from 1lbs up to 2lbs. The river is also supporting larger fish up to 6lbs plus. The Holaa is a frequently productive river completely self-sustainable and supporting native fish.

The River is approximately a 1 hour’s drive from Reykjavik and the inclusive time of fishing is approximately 6 to 7 hours by the river.
