The Close has been frozen in time thanks to it’s preservation efforts – shrouded in myths and mysteries, the alleyways and and homes of hold the stories of those who were unlucky enough to inhabit it. The tour at The Close is brought to life with faithful impersonations of the characters who made the site famous, like the Plague Doctor George Ray who, during the second outbreak of the Plague, was renowned for his work in medical sciences, and of course, Mary King, whose extraordinary life led to the naming of the site. The site was even visited by famous Japanese psychic Aiko Gibo in the making of a film about the most haunted places in the UK.
