Where can I try gold panning in Perthshire?

Highland Safaris Gold and Gem Panning centre, offers a fun experience for visitors of all ages to enjoy! Guests can pan for both real gold and fool's gold, as well as various kinds of beautiful gemstones in the all-weather Panning Flume. With heaps of lovely stones to be discovered, Highland Safaris welcomes all guests with open arms and promises a great day of fun for everyone involved!

Highland Safaris Gold and Gem Panning experience will take approximately 30-60 minutes but visitors are free to take along as they need to get through their purchased bucket of stones.

Parking at Highland Safaris is free of charge, as well as the Discovery Trail they have to offer and the viewing platform!

The Gold and Gem Panning experience takes place at the Highland Safari Lodge, near Aberfeldy, Perthshire. To find the lodge, from Aberfeldy follow the B846 for 2 and a half miles past Castle Menzies.

  • Available from mid-March until the start of November
  • Open from 9 am to 5 pm
  • Cafe, Shop, Toilets and Panning Flume all fully wheelchair accessible
  • Buckets of stones cost £7.50 each
