Where can I find Stratford Speedway?

The Stratford Speedway can be found by heading North out of Stratford and following state highway 3 until turning right onto Flint Road.

Racing at the Stratford Speedway first commenced back in the 1964/1965 season with 14 different stockcars all competing at the first race meeting. Since then, the club has seen loads of laps of racing, different classes come and go, and a dedicated bunch of volunteers that help operate the track.

Stratford competitors have had a very proud history, with 23 New Zealand championships, which is more than any track, won in the premier classes of Stockcars, Saloons and Modifieds. The club has also enjoyed good success in team racing with various Stratford teams winning many races and events during its history.

In the 1999/2000 season, the club became the first track to install electronic lap scoring and later that season won the prestigious Speedway of the Year award. The track plays host to around 20 nights of racing each season, starting off in October with the practices and finishing with the final event in March or April. Fan favourites and popular attractions at the speedway usually include the Fireworks night in early November, the Boxing Day Demolition Derby, and, the national Championship meetings.
