Learn to Surf in Portrush

Surf’s up! Grab a board and head surfing for the day with Portrush Surf School. As the leading surf school in Northern Ireland, they certainly know their stuff. Led by head coach Martin “TK” Kelly, an 11-time Irish National Champion, take part in a 3-hour lesson, perfect for any first-timer wanting to get a taste of the waves.

Do I need to own any equipment?

No, not at all! All equipment is provided by Billabong, the surf school's amazing, world-class sponsor. It's not Hawaii; the water might be a bit chilly! But don't worry, all wetsuits are provided too.

Based at Portrush Yacht club, situated within the Harbour area of Portrush, book your slot right away and jump head first into the water (potentially literally…). Running all year round, learn from the highly experienced and friendly coaches and bend the sea to your will! Portrush Surf School also does classes in Stand Up Paddleboarding and Giant Stand Up Paddleboarding. There are private changing rooms available with steamy, hot showers, so you don’t need to worry about using public changing facilities. There is also a beautiful cafe for you to relax after your day riding waves.

Classes run from 10:00 to 1:00, or from 2:00 to 5:00. You must be a minimum of 9 years old.
