Is there a weight limit on dog sledding?

Yes, for yours and the dogs’ safety, there is a weight limit. In order to take part, each person must be less than 95kg and have a BMI of less than 30.

Dog Sledding is an old arctic way of transportation. It was and sometimes still is used by the Inuit people mostly for hunting and chores around the village. Teams of sled dogs have pulled seals, moose, caribou, whales and polar bears to the dinner table! In Alaska and Canada, sled dogs are used to transport the mail and bring supplies to villages. It’s like a truck powered by dogs – the dogs are the engine.

Each sled takes up to 4 or 5 participants. Participants must be at least 6 years old. Make sure to wear warm, waterproof outdoor clothing and sturdy waterproof shoes; these can be provided for you if necessary. The experience last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. It can be moderately difficult, physically, so be prepared.

  • Adult (+12) – ISK 31,400
  • Children – ISK 23,930
  • Private Sled (1 to 3 Participants) – ISK 125,600
