Where can I see heritage railway lines in Ireland?

Ireland once had a massive railway industry, with most of the island being accessible via train. However, nowadays there is very little left. One of the best places to gain an insight into this past is the Stradbally Woodland Railway in Co Laois.

Built in the 1950s by some local railway enthusiasts, this railway gives us an insight into what would have been an important feature of rural Irish life throughout the years. In the years following its inception, Born Na Mona had gifted the Railway some of its gear to keep those volunteers’ dreams alive. So, if this sounds like the perfect day out for you, then make sure to visit the fantastic Stradbally Woodland Railway on your next day off!
