Visit the Patrick Kavanagh Centre in Monaghan

The Patrick Kavanagh Centre preserves, interprets, and celebrates the life and works of Patrick Kavanagh and the surrounding environment through collections, exhibitions, research and events that embrace the area’s evolution and spirit. The Patrick Kavanagh Centre is a state-of-the-art visitor experience and performance space, celebrating the life and work of Inniskeen’s most celebrated son and literary icon Patrick Kavanagh.

What is the price of admission?

For adults, admission to the amazing exhibition only costs €10 each, however for children 6 and under, it is completely free of charge.

The exhibition at the heart of the stunningly refurbished Kavanagh Centre celebrates the different stages of Patrick Kavanagh’s life and evolution of his poetic craft. This is achieved through a series of touchscreens, memory boxes, letters and early 20th-century ephemera. The magic and musicality of Kavanagh’s finest poems are celebrated in a short film that also captures the raw beauty of the County Monaghan’s landscape, inspiration for much of Kavanagh’s writing.
