The six acres of walled gardens at Strokestown Park offer something for everyone. From the restored croquet lawn and summer house, to the pleasure garden and fruit and vegetable garden. Discover exotic plant specimens gathered from all over the world by Henry Pakenham. Explore the new children’s garden trail, or wander through the woodland, which includes fine specimens of mature Beech and Oak, planted over 300 years ago by Thomas Mahon. Enjoy the herbaceous border, the fernery, the lily pond, the Victorian rose garden and the vinery. In the walled gardens you can explore the history of the gardens and their changing uses over the centuries for produce and pleasure. Whatever the weather, and whatever the season, the sights, sounds and smells of the gardens at Strokestown Park are a constantly changing kaleidoscope, which will fill all your senses and brighten up any day. Improvement works are ongoing in the gardens and we always welcome volunteers to assist with some of our garden projects. There is no need to book your garden visit in advance.
