If so, make sure to visit Tintern Abbey on your next day off! The original abbey was founded in 1200 and was built by William, Earl Marshall, on lands acquired through marriage. Currently, the majority of the abbey still stands, some of the highlights include The Cloister, Tower, Chapel and The Nave.
The abbey is steeped in local folklore and history, with it being handed over to the Colclough family in the 16th century, and they remained in possession of the abbey until the mid-twentieth century. With some of the most fascinating views that Ireland has to offer, this is one of the most interesting days out across the country. So, what are you waiting for?
