Oamaru Public Gardens has two entrances, one on Chelmer Street and another on Severn Street.

Oamaru Public Gardens, which was first established in the late 1800s, is one the oldest in the whole of New Zealand! The gardens have received a well deserved 5 star ‘Garden of Significance’ rating and have had no trouble with captivating and charming its visitors over the past centuries! The garden can be described as an oasis that reflects the passions and dedications of the former owners, canopies of mature trees that create a plethora of peaceful spaces filled with beautiful plantings that are linked by idyllic pathways that navigate their way around the streams and ponds, providing the perfect places to relax!
