Visit the Working Machinery Museum in the West Coast Region

Westland Industrial Heritage Park is a working museum with a variety of displays and ongoing projects. The dedicated volunteers’ passion for restoring Westland’s industrial past to running condition for public display has resulted in the park becoming a vibrant and dynamic family tourist attraction.

What can you see at the Park?

There are big old engines that chug away in the “Big Engine Shed”; lots of old and not so old big red fire engines; lots of old tractors and bulldozers - some that go and do lots of work around the place and some that just look good; dairying equipment; printing machines; a miniature railway is under construction that will transport passengers around the bush section of the Park through a wetland with rare mudfish; the list goes on and grows all the time. There is also a modern engineering workshop to help us make thing go.

The Westland Industrial Heritage Park (the Park) was started by a group of men who loved big engines and the like (toys) and wanted to play with the toys and preserve some of the history of Westland at the same time.  Since those beginnings the Park has developed and changed. It has become a place where all ages can see and touch and learn about the history of the region.
