If you’re in Durham then it’s a great opportunity to take a look round a brilliant Norman castle in the form of the beautiful Durham Castle! The castle has been continuously occupied its whole life and is currently occupied by students from Durham University but, you can still take a guided tour through much of the castle and see it’s collection of exhibits.

Where is Durham Castle?

Durham Castle is at the heart of Durham's World Heritage Site and occupied continuously since the 11th century. It is just North of Durham Cathedral and is surrounded by the River Wear.

You will be taken aback by the beauty of castle and the surrounding area and will soon understand why it’s a World Heritage Site. If you’re in Durham the castle is a must see and adding a trip to the nearby cathedral to your itinerary will ensure a day full of culture and history!
