The building is nearly 900 years old and is steeped in history and culture and is right next to the castle so is perfect for a day of history! The cathedral is full of beautiful arches and architecture and combined with the museum their is so much to explore and learn about this famous building’s past.

Where is Durham Cathedral?

Durham Cathedral is in the heart of the old city of Durham, surrounded by the Wear, just south of the Castle.

The museum is a toured experience where you can learn about 1000 years of stories about the area and the building. The guides are more than capable of answering any questions you might have along your 90 minute tour where you will learn about how the monks used to live and be able to see exciting exhibits including relics from saints and artefacts from Durham’s history.
