Are you an animal lover? Or perhaps you’re a keen gardener? Well, then Ouseburn Farm might just feel like heaven! Located right at the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, Ouseburn feels like an escape from the busy life of the bustling city, without ever leaving the city! It is a charity and community farm that is just waiting for you to get involved; in their words, it’s a “green oasis for our local community”! Whether you’re interested in helping plant and tend to all of the amazing plants, fruit and veg, or help look after the beautiful farm animals, you’re sure to find yourself relaxed and at ease. The goal of Ouseburn isn’t really looking after plants and animals; it’s looking after people.

What is there to eat at Ouseburn Farm?

Light lunches, hot food, sandwiches, delicious homemade cakes, scones, biscuits, Marshfield Farm Ice Cream... We could go on; you’re sure to find something to satisfy you! Sustainability is a huge focus at the farm, so they aim to use as many of their own ingredients as possible, including meat, vegetables, and herbs!

Ouseburn Farm started in 1976 when parents from Byker took over a plot of land on the site where the Farm is now. They wanted their children to have access to nature, grow their own food and take care of animals themselves. Today, the farm is a registered charity and has around 36,000 visitors every year! Perhaps it is because of the amazing ethos of the farm. It’s about nurturing people, boosting self-confidence and a sense of belonging through engagement with farm life. At the farm, everyone is welcome. It truly will make for one of the most wholesome days out you can have; you’ll want to make it a regular activity.
