Spend the Night in George Best’s Family Home

George Best House, located at Burren Way, Cregagh Estate, Belfast is the childhood home of footballing legend George Best. George Best House, retro- refurbished to a 1960s style, is available to book for overnight stays where you can experience life in the house for George before he left east Belfast, aged 15, to join Manchester United in 1961. Visitors can enjoy; flicking through old school reports and letters a young George sent to his parents; looking at personal family photos on the walls as well as iconic images from George’s illustrious career and exploring an illustrated timeline of George’s football career and achievements.

Can I view the home without spending the night?

Yes, of course! Every Friday at 10:00am and 11:00 am there is a tour of the home. Tickets cost £6 per person and for under 12s it’s free!

George Best not only thrilled the world with his wonderful football skills but also brought glamour to 1960s football and his sex appeal earned him the tag of the “Fifth Beatle”. On the field he had no weakness: George could dribble, tackle, head the ball, score goals; in short he could do things that others could only dream about. He was unique in that he was perfectly balanced, could use both feet, was very quick and possessed an excellent football brain.  To this day he stands head and shoulders above most of the rest, and could arguably be said to have been the world’s best footballer.  In Northern Ireland the saying goes “Maradonna good, Pele better, George BEST”.
