What's in Braemar?

Braemar is home to one of Scotland's longest-running and most fascinating traditions, the Highland Games! This museum tells the story of the games, with a fantastic collection of artefacts that explore it's history.

Unveiled by the Queen in 2018, the Braemar Highland Games Centre is home to a fascinating display of artefacts, including photographs, documents, costumes and tools used for the games which tell the unique story of the Braemar gathering and the Braemar Royal Highland society with over two centuries of history. The J.S Milne Gallery has stunning French windows with great views of the games park, with trophy cabinets from years past, while the Kaufmann Exhibition Hall at the heart of the centre features the impressive octagonal decorated ceiling, with a display of objects and stories that explore the origins the societies links with the Queen.

The Pavilion café is tasty way to finish off your visit to the centre, serving tea and locally made food that celebrates the best of what Scotland has to offer. Don’t forget to bring a souvenir home to commemorate your visit from the gift shop, or perhaps even get your hands on a ticket to the next Highland Games gathering!
