North Sannox Pony Trekking on the Isle of Arran

Get ready to experience the unbelievable landscape of Arran like never before! The North Sannox Pony Trekking was created in 1981 on a working sheep farm and continues today as a thriving local family-run horse/pony trekking service. There’s a large selection of ponies and larger horses available, so they’re sure to find one to match your size. For the younger ones (3-5-year-olds), the paddock ride is an excellent choice as they offer a short lead rein and a smaller child-sized pony.

Where can I find the North Sannox Pony Trekking Centre?

North Sannox Pony Trekking Centre is located a 20-minute drive from Brodick, where the main ferry terminal is, and a 15-minute drive from Lochranza where the ferry from Argyll docks.

Their equine friends range in height from 9hh to 16.2hh, are well versed in the different terrains that the treks run through, and most importantly, they all have kind and gentle dispositions. The one-hour trek takes you through a beautiful forest, then towards the coast where all sorts of local wildlife lives, such as seals, otters, porpoises and dolphins! The two-hour ride is a circular route, it follows the local hills into the stunning Glen Sannox, then onto the local beach, and then back around a coastal path to North Sannox.  Keep your eyes peeled for seals, dolphins, and even basking sharks in the warmer seasons!
