Why should I visit the Great Tapestry of Scotland?

If you're looking to learn about the history of Scotland in a unique and creative way, this incredible artistic display is the perfect place to do so! The aim of the Tapestry is to provide a deep insight into Scottish history and culture and how it was shaped by its people over time, as well as show casing the craft of artists around the country.

The Great Tapestry of Scotland was a project that was first suggested by author Alexander McCall Smith. He was inspired by a trip to the Prestonpans Tapestry and decided to start to bring his vision to life by gathering a team of artists and designers from across the country. Some famous stories the Tapestry has to offer, include the likes of the Battle of Bannockburn and Sir Walter Scott.
