The castle’s history dates all the way back to 1480 when it was commissioned to be built by George, 4th Lord Seton. Since then, it has passed through the ownership of many different families and royal figures, as well as been destroyed and restored multiple times!

Head to Winton Castle for a wide range of exciting outdoor activities, set on a stunning countryside estate! You can find the castle about half an hour's drive east of Edinburgh via the A1, or take the 113 bus from the city centre, stopping at St. Andrew's house and walking for 15 minutes.

The estate has a wide range of exciting activities on offer – try your hand at clay pigeon shooting, where you’ll take aim with 24-time Scottish clay shooting champion Billy Gordon. Traverse through different terrains in thrilling 4×4 driving experience and quad biking, travelling through their fantastic woodland course near the castle – this is a great opportunity to test your driving skills and get your adrenaline pumping! The castle hosts the classic highland mini-games, involving up to 300 participants! It includes all the classics such as caber and hay tossing, tug of war, highland dancing and many more traditional activities!
