No trip to Scotland is complete without a trip to this iconic landmark!

Where can I find the Falkirk Wheel?

Take the M9 towards Stirling, and exit at Junction 5 for Falkirk! It’s about a ten-minute drive/bus trip from Falkirk’s town centre.

The Falkirk Wheel is the world’s only rotating boat lift, with the power to lift boats 115ft in the air connecting the Fourth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal. The Falkirk Wheel was born from the Millennium Link project, a plan to set up coast-to-coast navigation of the canals for the first time in over 40 years!  It was originally designed to replace a series of old 19th-century lock gates and has long since become a symbol of beautiful and efficient Scottish engineering. There’s plenty to see on-site, such as the Children’s Activity Zone, the Mini Canal and the Water Activity Zone.

The Falkirk Wheel Experience boat ride is a round trip, with an ascent and decent lasting about 60 minutes.
