Whisky Tasting Tours at Ardnahoe Distillery

Are you a whisky lover? If so, you should consider visiting the Ardnahoe Distillery in Port Askaig on the Isle of Islay. If you are visiting this area, this may be the perfect day out! This scenic distillery is located on the North East of the Island, with fantastic views of the Paps of Jura. This is a family-owned business created by the highly respected Andrew and Scott Laing, who followed in their father’s footsteps by opening Ardnahoe Distillery. Their whisky could not be any more homegrown and authentic, with their primary source of water coming from the close Loch Ardnahoe, and this is where their name derives from.

How do I get to the Isle of Islay?

To get to Port Askaig from Glasgow, You can take the bus from Buchanan Bus Station to Kennacraig ferry terminal, then Take the ferry to Port Askaig. This Journey can often take up to 5 hours depending on the weather.

The facility offers multiple different tour types and testing events, these include Whisky and Cheese pairing, Blending experience, Warehouse tour, The Spirit of Ardnahoe and Their Expressions tasting experience. Admission starts at £10, but depending on the tour it may rise to around £70. Their famous tastings, give visitors the opportunity to taste high-end whiskies like their signature Laphroaig 12-year-old, while also pairing it with Strathdon Blue.  Most tours last around 45 minutes, however depending on the tour chosen, it could range to 90 minutes. Ardnahoe also recommends booking in advance to avoid disappointment.
