For an interesting day out for all visitors including families! Bute Museum showcases the area’s rich history, specialising in medieval and neolithic artefacts. Perfectly catered for children, with lower-level displays so that even the little ones can take what this great museum has to offer.

How can I get to Bute Museum?

From Glasgow, you can catch the train from the central station to Wemyss bay, and then catch the ferry to Rothesay.

Since the area has an array of medieval castles and greatly preserved archaeological sites, the museum can celebrate this by showcasing beautifully preserved artefacts from the area.

There are also exhibits and displays which celebrate World War 2 military history also when the island was used as a Naval base.  If none of these exhibits catches your eye, then surely their Natural history room will. This room celebrates the local scenery and wildlife in a museum setting. So what are you waiting for? Come on down to Bute museum and have a great day out learning all you can about the area!
