Hiking Along the West Highland Way

For lovers of the outdoors and/or hiking, there aren’t many other walking routes as scenic as the West Highland Way. This walking route starts from Milngavie and stops at George Square in Fort William. For the most enthusiastic of hikers, this route runs for 96 miles with popular scenic routes throughout. Some of these beautiful locations include Mugdoch Country Park, Loch Lomond, Glencoe and the Devils Staircase.

How do you start The West Highland Way?

The route generally starts in either direction from Milngavie or Fort William. Getting to and from both towns is easily accessible with many bus and train routes from both Glasgow and Edinburgh.

There are often camping facilities throughout the area. However, in East Loch Lomond there are some restrictions from March and October. There is also a vast amount of accommodation and facilities throughout the route with some fantastic local finds along the way.
