Microlight Lessons at Strathaven

If you ever wanted to fly in a microlight, now is your chance. Microlight Scotland has been training pilots since 1998 at Strathaven Airfield in South Lanarkshire.  Instruction is provided by Colin MacKinnon and Graham McNally, who follow the British Microlight Aircraft Association syllabus, as approved by the Civil Aviation Authority.

Many pupils continue training to reach the required 25 hours of instruction needed before the General Skills Test to gain a National Private Pilot’s License (Microlights). Vouchers start at £139 for the Classic Microlight Experience. This is in a dual control microlight with a fully qualified instructor.

Where can I learn to fly a microlight in Central Scotland?

Microlight Scotland offers a range of flying lessons at Strathaven Airfield in South Lanarkshire.

Microlight Scotland students are met by their instructor in the clubhouse at Strathaven Airfield, where the lesson starts in our briefing room. Lessons are built around gaining your microlight license. If you reach this stage for £100 per month they offer a part share in their Blade 912 microlight. This includes insurance, maintenance, fuel, and one hour of flying per month, making this an affordable option for everyone who would like to build up their microlight flying experience.

Other experiences and training available at Strathaven Airfield include fixed-wing flying in a Comco Ikarus C42. If the private home next to the airfield looks familiar it’s Colin’s private home and was featured on Channel 4’s Grand Designs.
