How was the Minack Theatre built?

This incredible location becomes even more special once you notice the attention to detail and marvel at how it was originally built using hand tools by amateur builders. Updated in years past to make it safer for use and to accommodate for its growth in popularity, the original vision has always been maintained with homages to Rowena's original designs in the newer dressing rooms and rehearsal spaces.

Running over 200 shows a year, Minack has something for everyone, making it well worth returning, again and again, to experience different performances in this remarkable location. Read all about its extraordinary creator in the theatre’s exhibition centre and see the house where she once lived on the cliff top as you approach the theatre. Their stunning gardens are a sub-tropical paradise, filling the area around the theatre with colour and life and taking full advantage of the mild climate in this part of Cornwall – so this wonderful location will appeal to garden lovers and theatre lovers alike!
