STORIEL Museum & Art Gallery in Bangor

Having started life as the Gwynedd Museum & Art Gallery, STORIEL is a fantastic museum and art gallery located in the famous University City of Bangor. It is the county museum and gallery for Gwynedd and is one of two museums directly run by Gwynedd Council’s Economy and Community Department (Museum and Arts Service). It’s home to a collection that was created all the way back in 1884 by Bangor University! The museum features many local treasures, such as the Roman Segontium Sword, and the King of Bardsey’s crown. There’s also an exhibition detailing the ancient history of Gwynedd.

As well as a series of permanent displays, both the museum and the gallery also host temporary exhibitions, so it’s worth checking the programme when you’re in the area to see what they’ve got on! Why not check out the gift shop and cafe while you’re there?

Where can I find STORIEL?

It’s located in the centre of Bangor, about 200m from Deiniol Shopping Centre. If you’re visiting by train, it’s only about a 10 minute walk away from the nearest train station!
