Have you ever wanted to have a go at blacksmithing or knife making? Now at Make a Knife in Tasman, you can! Join them for a whole day activity – forging a knife from raw steel to a blade you will treasure forever. Using the traditional Blacksmith tool kit of forge, hammer and anvil we first forge and shape the blade. Once forged, a little tidying up with the file or grinder can be done prior to heat treating and attaching your handle.
There is nothing quite like a knife you have made yourself, whether for outdoor use or in the kitchen. During the day you will forge a blade as it has been done through the ages, with step by step instruction and feel a wonderful sense of accomplishment at the conclusion of your day. Come prepared to get messy – old clothes and shoes that cover your feet (no jandles). They operate rain or shine, so no need to worry about the weather. Bring a camera and join us for a day to remember.
