He's desperate to impress his teacher and win a golden star, but he's accident prone and each year he has to be helped by a kind young girl who patches up his bumps and bruises. Then in Year Four, he has to capture a princess - can the young girl help him with his trickiest challenge yet? A treat for all the family from four-time Oscar-nominated producers Magic Light Pictures.

Chicken Run

8 - 11 August, 2022
For its first feature Aardman studios has re-written the WWII POW experience as an Orwellian satire, albeit with laughs. So, Stalag 17 becomes a battery farm and the camp commandant farmer Tweedy's domineering wife, while in the hutches, Ginger rallies her fellow hens to fly their coop. Though the characters aren't as established as Wallace and Gromit and the feature length running time slows the action. For Aardman this is very half baked.

For years, rumours of the 'Marsh Girl' haunted Barkley Cove, isolating the sharp and resilient Kya from her community. Drawn to two young men from town, Kya opens herself to a new and startling world; but when one of them is found dead, she is immediately cast by the community as the main suspect. As the case unfolds, the verdict as to what actually happened becomes increasingly unclear, threatening to reveal the many secrets that lay within the marsh.

But they also unleash a stampede of monkeys, crocodiles, elephants, rhinos and other unfamiliar beasts into small town America. The story manages to get beyond its repetitive limits with a brilliantly original central idea and post-'Jurassic Park' computer effects that make it a state-of-the-art cinema spectacle.

The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists!

8 - 11 August, 2022
An inept pirate captain (Grant) attempts to win Pirate of the Year competition with the help of a young Charles Darwin (Tennant).
