Why should I visit Mount Ida Pottery in County Down?
At Mount Ida Pottery, the instructors try to meet the needs of all guests based on their previous experiences working with clay. The team at Mount Ida work throughout the day and in the evening to suit all requests! Throughout the year they offer a number of different themed workshops.
The workshops can accommodate up to 12 guests for a hand-building class, 3 guests for a throwing session and 22 guests for the demonstrations in the studio, showing that the studio is very versatile in what they offer! The overall cost of the making and throwing sessions includes a return visit to glaze the work guests have made on their first session and all materials used to create their pottery!
Hand-building classes allow guests to have the opportunity to make pieces using slab-building techniques by forming the clay by hand! Throwing classes let the guests spend time on the potter’s wheel, learning the basic techniques of centring and throwing the clay to create a range of forms!
