Why should I visit Mount Stewart in County Down?

Mount Stewart is one of the most inspirational and unique gardens in the National Trust's ownership!

Mount Stewart house has always been a home for the Londonderry family, a venue that has been touched by various generations of owners who have loved it! Whilst it has always respected the past and found inspiration from its history, Mount Stewart has never been afraid of change throughout the generations, striving to remain relevant in modern times, the result being that the house and gardens still feel very much like a family home to all that visit!

The garden at Mount Stewart is unique and rare in quality, being one of the few compartmentalized Arts and Crafts-like gardens. The gardens are deeply personal and created by Edith, Lady Londonderry in the early 20th century building on a pre-existing 18th and 19th-century landscape.

Visitors are warmly welcomed to this venue to walk through the grounds and appreciate the extremely scenic gardens and the impressive architecture of the building! Once they have explored the grounds why not stop off at the tea room for some refreshments and a bite to eat?
