Myvatn Nature Baths

For all the funstackers out there who love relaxing and trips to the spa, you need to visit the nature baths in Myvatn where you can spend the day in a lagoon or the two steam baths (which are built on top of a geothermal area so the sulphur steam free rises from the holes on the floor). Each season brings a completely new experience such as in winter you are able to see and appreciate the beauty of the Northern Lights! They recommend that you book it in advance, especially if you are a group of more than 10, just to be safe on their website. You are not allowed to bring your own alcohol however you can buy a bracelet of beer and wine once you are inside to accompany your time in the lagoon.

Where can i go to bathe in a 40 degree Celsius lagoon?

If you visit Myvatn Nature Baths you can visit a man made lagoon which gets its water from the National Power Company´s bore hole in Bjarnarflag and this water is special because of the big number of minerals it contains as well ass alkalines makes it extremely suited for bathing and relaxing. Due to its chemical composition, undesired bacteria and vegetation do not thrive in the lagoon making chloride or any other disinfectant redundant.

you do have to be at least 13 years old to take part in this activity and the price does range based on your age; 2700-5700 isk! The spa is open all year round but the opening and closing times do change based on the time of the year so be sure to check the website before you arrive!

  • the cost ranges from 2700-5700 Isk
  • During the winter season, you can see the northern lights
  • the water ranges from 36-40 degrees Celsius
