Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Roman Empire and discover the remnants of the North Leigh Roman Villa. Located in a tranquil rural landscape within one of the loops of the Evenlode river which flows peacefully to the west and north of this historical site.
Geophysical surveys and aerial photography have proven that there were extensive buildings beyond the southwest of the villa and are thought to have included an aisled barn or hall which may have served as a farmhouse for the villa. Visiting the Villa’s grounds may lead to you discovering more about the historically rich site!
The team of dedicated volunteers at the site will be opening up the brand new mosaic house and will be there to tell you more about the site and roman life in person! Visitors will also have the chance to meet the site’s Roman Coin expert and have the opportunity to view the mosaic being cleaned, giving guests the chance to see how English Heritage looks after its collection of historical finds.
