Fancy a dip? The Open Air Pool is a long-time staple of Portishead and the Somerset/Bristol area. It first opened back in April 1962, when Portishead had a population of only 10,000! After a period of closure, the Pool re-opened in May 2009 and it has been a bustling spot for the local community ever since! The pool itself is 33 metres long, fully heated, and overlooks the mouth of the River Avon, so you can swim and take in the stunning view at the same time.

Where can I find the Open Air Pool in Portishead?

You can find it hidden in the coastal town of Portishead, just south of Bristol.

After your swim, feel free to check out Cafe Lido, a community-run cafe that boasts a selection of hot and cold drinks (including Fairtrade coffee), ice creams, cakes, fresh fruit, light meals, tuck shop sweets, and even some Portishead Open Air Pool merchandise if you’d like a memento to take home!
