Dating all the way back to the 11th century learn all about Reigate’s historic underground heritage with a tour of the Baron’s Cave on the castle grounds and the East and West Caverns in Tunnel Road. The castle mound overlooking the tower centre is composed of soft sandstone and has been mined for several centuries – it is both educational and exciting this is not one to miss!

Take an underground adventure with a visit to Reigate Caves located in Reigate town centre.

The caves have a long history as a local curiosity with the earliest guided tours dating back to 1860! Each tour lasts between 20-35 minutes where details of the history and preservation of the caves will be explained making it the perfect family adventure fun. The caves have very limited opening days in order to protect the bats that live there – please check the website for opening days!

  • Due to the steep nature of the Barons cave- not suitable for those mobility issues
