Located at Rainbow Springs Nature Park in Rotorua, the National Kiwi hatchery is an inspiring story of protecting an important species, hatching over 2100 kiwi chicks – in this thought-provoking and educational experience, you’ll get exclusive access to seeing kiwi eggs being incubated, the hatching process and, if you’re lucky, the amazing sight of newly hatched kiwi chicks! Learn all about the famous icon of New Zealand in a 45 minute guided experience through their conservation facilities. Explore their interactive kiwi burrow to learn all about the magic of kiwi’s, standing inside a human-sized kiwi burrow and inside a giant kiwi egg, and watch adult kiwi roam in the nocturnal house.  If you want to dive deeper, take the behind the scenes tour and step behind the glass for a truly immersive experience. Join the hatchery team to get up-close and personal with the chicks, and even take a photo with them!

• Behind the scenes tour:
  Adult $195, child (12 – 15 years) $175
  Up to four people and only one departure per day at 12pm.
  Duration 1 hour
  Minimum age is 12 years.
