Featured in The Telegraph as the best romantic hotel in Norfolk, Cley Windmill combines the novelty and character of a beautiful early 18th Century windmill (in a fantastic North Norfolk coast location), with sensitively designed interiors and locally sourced produce for breakfast. Quite a package wouldn’t you say?

Accommodation is offered in two forms – Bed & Breakfast and Self-Catering.

Aside from the wonderful rooms, relaxation and comfort are provided via a magnificent circular sitting room (complete with inviting sofas, and a roaring fire in winter) and a stunning beamed dining room for breakfast.

At the very top, the fabulous Wheel Room can only be accessed by a steep carpeted ladder or can be taken along with the Stone Room to form a unique ‘suite for the adventurous’ at the very top of the windmill. The Stone is very popular with birdwatchers, so if you’re looking for some interesting sightings of an avocet or spoonbill, this could be the room for you!

The Long House and The Boat House offer B&B accommodation outside the mill itself. Ideal hideaways, all offer the same fabulous fittings as the rooms inside the Mill.

Also external to the Mill itself, The Dovecote is a snug flint-walled cottage.

Extraordinary and romantic, a stay at Cley Windmill is something you will remember always.

How does it look from the inside?

The rooms inside the windmill itself are all unique in layout and feel, depending upon their situation within the mill. For example, the cosy and traditional Wheat Chamber (a beamed, circular room) is the first of the rooms in the tower, offering superb views across the River Glaven. The Miller’s Room was occupied by the last Miller and his Wife. The Stone Room features a dramatically high ceiling and a private doorway that offers access to the balcony that encircles the windmill.
  • It can sleep up to 4 adults on a Self-Catering basis
  • Allows dogs.
  • The whole Mill can be hired on a self-Catering basis over Christmas and New Year.
  • Cley Windmill is licensed for civil ceremonies and weddings and the entire windmill can be occupied afterwards for the wedding and reception. It is an unforgettable and stunning venue for a small romantic wedding (also more than perfect for the honeymoon!).
