While largely being known for it’s plentiful nature reserves and towering mountain ranges, Aberdeenshire is also home to a rich history and culture. Tucked away in the village of Banchory is the Barn, a charming barn-turn-art venue host to a fantastic programme of events from performance and cinema, visual arts, talks, community projects and more, the only venue of it’s kind in all of Aberdeenshire!
The Barn is home to a variety of facilities: a great theatre with a 350 seat capacity, hosting year-round performances; a contemporary art gallery and workshop space, showcasing artists work from near and far, sometimes linked with performances being shown at the time; as well as the wild garden area, a haven for wildlife and the perfect place for some peace and contemplation or a relaxed stroll to get escape a busy life. Buchanan food, an organic bistro, is also located on site, where you can sit with a coffee and enjoy some delicious, locally sourced and produced food to cap off your visit.
